The Copan 891982 ESwab® is a state-of-the-art specimen collection, transport, and preservation system designed to optimize microbiological testing accuracy and efficiency. It combines FLOQSwabs® technology — featuring soft, nylon flocked swabs — with 1 mL of Liquid Amies medium in a leak-resistant, plastic screw-cap tube for superior sample integrity.

The flocked swab head releases over 90% of the collected specimen into the liquid medium upon insertion, significantly improving pathogen recovery compared to traditional fiber swabs. This enables:

• Enhanced detection of aerobic, anaerobic, and fastidious bacteria
• Multiple testing modalities from a single sample: culture, molecular assays (PCR), rapid antigen tests, Gram staining, and microbiome analysis
• Creation of multiple aliquots for parallel investigations

FDA-cleared for use in the collection and transport of bacterial specimens. Maintains organism viability for up to 48 hours at room or refrigerated temperatures (N. gonorrhoeae survival: 24 hours, in compliance with CLSI standards).
